ABOUT

Dr. Aranyak Goswami

Dr. Aranyak Goswami is an accomplished computational biologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Animal, Poultry, and Data Sciences at the University of Arkansas. With over a decade of research experience, Dr. Goswami’s expertise spans genomics, precision medicine, human microbiome studies, machine learning, and deep learning applications. He earned his Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from the Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Kolkata, after completing his undergraduate and master’s degrees in Microbiology and Genetics, respectively, at the University of Calcutta, where he graduated with highest honors.

Dr. Goswami’s career includes significant postdoctoral work at prestigious institutions such as Stanford University and Yale University. At Stanford, under the mentorship of Prof. Mark Kay, he focused on using advanced sequencing technologies and deep learning models to improve the design of AAV viral vectors for gene therapy. His work at Yale included groundbreaking research in psychiatric and human genetics, where he explored the genetic underpinnings of complex psychiatric disorders and contributed to the understanding of the gut-brain axis.

A prolific researcher, Dr. Goswami has published numerous high-impact papers, including studies on the role of microbes in neuropsychiatric disorders, genome-wide association studies (GWAS), and advanced machine learning applications in genomics. His work in computational genomics includes exploring the human microbiome using metagenomics and systems biology approaches, conducting gene ontology pathway analysis, and performing transcriptomic and metabolomic studies.

In addition to his research, Dr. Goswami is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of scientists. He has guided several master’s and Ph.D. students in bioinformatics and genomics, sharing his knowledge of cutting-edge techniques and data analysis methods. His contributions to science have been recognized by prestigious grants, including the National Post-Doctoral Fellowship from the Government of India, and he actively participates in reviewing scientific papers for leading journals.

Dr. Goswami’s passion for exploring the frontiers of bioinformatics and computational biology continues to drive his research, as he seeks to uncover new insights into human health and disease through innovative computational approaches. His work not only advances scientific understanding but also holds the potential to transform therapeutic strategies and improve patient outcomes.
